A finished build is not the same as a launch-ready build. Store submission has its own checklist, and missing a step can mean a rejected submission, a delayed launch, or a poor first impression in the store listing. Here is what actually needs to be in place before submitting.
Store Listing Assets
- App icon in every required resolution for both stores.
- A set of screenshots that show real gameplay, not just menus — players decide quickly based on what they see.
- A short preview video, where supported, since it consistently improves conversion on the store page.
- A title, subtitle and description written with real keyword research behind them, not guesswork.
Compliance and Policy Checks
- Data safety / privacy disclosures completed accurately for both stores — this is a common cause of rejection.
- Age rating questionnaires completed honestly, since they affect both discoverability and compliance.
- Ad network and analytics SDKs reviewed against current store policy, particularly around tracking and consent.
- In-app purchase and subscription flows tested against each store’s billing requirements.
Staged Rollout, Not a Big-Bang Launch
Both major stores support a staged or percentage-based rollout. Releasing to a small percentage of users first — then 10%, then 50%, then 100% — gives a team time to catch a crash, a balance issue, or a payment bug before it reaches the full audience. This is one of the simplest risk-reduction steps available and is consistently underused.
Day-One Monitoring
Before the staged rollout begins, make sure crash reporting, analytics events, and store review monitoring are all actually wired up and tested — not just installed. The first 48 hours after launch is when problems are cheapest to catch and most expensive to ignore.
Soft Launch in a Limited Region
For games with meaningful monetization or retention systems, a soft launch in one or two smaller markets before a global release lets a team validate retention curves, IAP conversion and ad revenue with real players, at a fraction of the user-acquisition cost of a global launch.
Our game publishing service handles store setup, compliance review and staged rollout planning end-to-end. If you are approaching a launch date and want a second set of eyes on the checklist, start a conversation with our team.
